Pastor E.A Adeboye remains the General Overseer of RCCG Worldwide - RCCG
The Redeemed Christians Church of God,RCCG, has refuted the reports that the General Overseer of the church has resigned.
The church in a press statement signed by Leke Adeboye, on Saturday said that Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye remains the General Overseer of Redeemed Christians Church of God Worldwide.
Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye remains the General Overseer, Worldwide of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG.
Leke Adeboye, the clergyman’s last son and Personal Assistant said the clarification is coming on the heels of misrepresentation of Pastor E. A Adeboye’s announcement at the Annual Ministers Thanksgiving held at the redemption camp today that the Church Nigeria is now to be led by Pastor Joseph Obayemi.
The statement clarified that the latest development is sequel to the new legal requirements set up by the Financial Regulations Council, guiding all registered churches, mosques, and CSOs.
The regulation stipulates that heads of non profit organisations like churches now have a maximum period of twenty years to lead their organizations while in retirement, they are not permitted to hand over to their families.
Leke Adeboye also reiterated that Pastor Funsho Odesola, will now serve as the new Church Secretary while Pastor Joseph Adeyokunu, is the new Church Treasurer.
He advised all members of RCCG to understand this new structure and go about their service to God and humanity in holiness and soul winning.
He also appealed to members to educate people around them and not spread inaccurate information stressing that Pastor E.A Adeboye remains the General Overseer of RCCG Worldwide.

The colourful posters have also been extended to Benin City, specifically in front of Denis Osadebe Government House as well as the state secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The posters suggest that the trained medical doctor, son of the former governor, have joined the race for the vacant seat of Etsako Federal Constituency.
The posters have inscription such as “Enough is Enough, “it is time for the New Generation”.
The seat for the Etsako Federal Constituency was declared vacant after the occupant, Mr Philip Shaibu was elected deputy to Governor Godwin Obaseki.
Oshiomhole’s entrance into the race has increased the aspirants to six, since the seat was declared vacant by the Speaker of the House of Representative, Mr Yakubu Dogara, in Dec. 2016.

This will be a year that you will remember for good- Archbishop M.E. Benson-Idahosa
The Archbishop of Church of God Mission International, Most.Rev. M.E. Benson-Idahosa has made a declarative prophesy for the new year. She made her good will message (titled empowered to do exploits) known through the church's devotional manual, Above only.
This is mama message for the year 2017
EMPOWERED TO DO EXPLOITS
Dearly beloved,
I welcome you to 2017 with great joy and happiness. This is a year that we are being empowered to do great exploits. I want you to know that you are important and valuable to God.
God depends so much on you and you are his extended leg on earth, His voice to echo what He came to do and His eyes to see what is going on around you.
In Judges 6, Gideon was working in the garden and all of a sudden, an angel appeared and said to him "man of valour I see you and I want you to go and deliver the children of Israel". God is asking me to tell you that there is valour in you, there is strength in you and you have been empowered, so you should go and do exploits.
If God calls a man, a man of valour, He has already equipped him, so you better believe it and work in line with it. I assure you that no power of the enemy can stop you.
Beloved, you shall do great exploits in every area of your life. You should not look at your smallness and begin to criticize yourself because God will not take permission from any man to bless you.
You are equipped to do exploits. As one man, Gideon defeated the Philistines, that is how God is going to use you. You will smite the enemy as one man. You are going forth in His name to do exploits with goodness and mercy following you.
In 2017, you must know Jesus and make Him known to others. This will be a year that you will remember for good
Happy New and prosperous Year!

A young Babcock undergraduate commits suicide after send a happy new year message
A 19-year-old undergraduate of Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, Verishima Unokyur, has committed suicide in his parent’s home in Mafoluku, in the Oshodi area of Lagos State.
According to the punch;the 200-level Social Work student had on Tuesday sent a text message to his best friend, welcoming him into the New Year.
“See you in heaven,” he reportedly said at the end of the message.
Our correspondent learnt that the Benue State indigene committed suicide between that time and Wednesday when his corpse was discovered, by hanging himself with his tie.
His immediate younger brother, Asor, was reportedly asleep at the time.
Asor said their mother was also away, adding that his brother never showed any sign that he would commit suicide.
He said, “I was sleeping when my phone rang and when I checked, I saw that it was my mum calling. She said I should come and open the door for her. As I was coming down, I saw my brother dangling like a pendulum from where he hanged himself. That was around 7am.
“He didn’t complain about anything. But I remember that before I went to sleep, he was quiet. I asked what was wrong with him, but he said nothing. My mum had just the two of us; he was my elder brother.”
Our correspondent gathered from a close family friend that the victim had told his mother that he would die anytime.
He explained that the mother, who was alarmed, took him to different prayer houses, which however, did not stop Verishima from killing himself.
He said, “The two children lost their father about 15 years ago. It was their mother that had been responsible for their upkeep and she made them comfortable. She is a top employee of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria.
“He had been telling the mother that he had the feeling that he would die soon.
“The mother attends one of the Pentecostal churches and so when the boy said he would die, she took him to the church and they prayed for him.
“A night to the day of this incident, the boy picked his phone and sent a text message to his best friend, wishing him a happy new year. At the end of that message, he wrote, ‘see you in heaven’. It was the following morning that his remains were found dangling from his tie.”
A former teacher of the victim, who spoke on condition of anonymity, described him as an introvert.
“When he was in secondary school, he always kept to himself. Nobody knew anything about him,” he added.
Our correspondent learnt that policemen from the Mafoluku division visited the scene and took photographs of the victim before calling an ambulance to convey the corpse to a mortuary.
It was learnt that the mother had been in a state of shock since the incident happened, as symapthisers besieged the family house on Sunkanmi Awoyingbo Street, Mafoluku, to condole with them.
A check on the Facebook page of Verishima showed he was an avid fan of DC Comics. He posted photos of super heroes on his cover page at different times.
Our correspondent also observed that some of his friends had started paying tributes to his memory on his Facebook wall and those of other relatives, who posted the news.
One Ifeoluwa Comfort said, “When I heard about this sad news yesterday (Wednesday), I couldn’t get myself out of the shock for good 20 minutes. I couldn’t believe it.
“What a loss to his family and the world at large. I still can’t think of what could have made him do that to himself. God of mercy, I pray you forgive him.”
Another, Moses Mow, said, “Oh my God! I went to the same lesson with this boy. He was a good kid. Why did this happen?”
The Babcock Public Relations Officer, Joshua Suleiman, confirmed the studentship of Verishima.
He said, “The incident didn’t happen in Babcock. It happened in the deceased’s home. He was a 200-level Social Work student. From the university’s records, he was an easy-going and obedient student.”
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, said the victim was pronounced dead at a hospital.
She said, “The family woke up to find his body dangling from where he hanged himself. He
.was rushed to a hospital where he was confirmed dead. The case is under investigation.”

What has Patience Jonathan, ex-first lady done to the Police Force?
It's no news that the Ex-first Lady has suffered some embarrassment and allegations in the present adminstration. But the latest was the present raiding of her Abuja house by the police force with the allegation of keeping huge amount of money in foreign currencies suspected to be stolen.
According to punch;
Multiple sources familiar with the investigation confided in one of our correspondents on Thursday that the security personnel raided the house on a tip-off that huge amount, allegedly believed to be stolen government money, was kept in the building located at Igbeti Rock, Maitama, Abuja.
The operation, which was carried out by operatives of the Special Investigation Panel, headed by a retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Ali Amodu, acted at the behest of the Federal Government Asset Recovery and Forfeiture Committee.
Sources explained that an informant had tipped the Federal Government about alleged huge stolen cash hidden in the building and in three other different locations in the Federal Capital Territory.
It was learnt that the informant, who told the government about the cash in the Maitama property, had hinted that the suspect planned to move the money anytime.
Following the intelligence report, the SIP operatives stormed the duplex on Wednesday, but did not find any cash.
A source explained that the police did not know that the building belonged to Jonathan until she identified herself as a former First Lady to the team leader, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Adebo Williams, on the telephone.
The source stated, “At the house, the security men said the house belonged to one Jaga, a Rivers State indigene, and the team leader was directed to call the owner.
“The security man gave the phone to the team leader and she identified herself as former First Lady.
“She spoke in pidgin English and told the operatives to go and take whatever they kept in the house. The team leader advised her to send her lawyer and she did. The house was searched in the lawyer’s presence.”
It was gathered that the team discovered that the first of the twin duplex had not been inhabited for a long time.
The men, it was learnt, found some company documents, three Diamond bank accounts cheque leaves, which were taken away for further investigations.
A source said, “The second duplex was also filled with cobwebs and contained four big security safes. All the four security safes were met opened and in clean condition, indicating that they have been in use.
A senior officer stated that a bulletproof Porsche jeep and a BMW car were found locked up in the garage.
In his reaction, Patience Jonathan’s lawyer, Mr. Charles Ogboli, described the allegations by the police that they had information of huge foreign currencies deposited in the house as unfounded.
He argued that the raid was a malicious persecution of the former first lady, adding that there was no huge safe in the family house.
He explained that the search conducted on Mrs. Jonathan’s house without her presence meant that the police intended to do something else other than searching the building.
Ogboli, who spoke with one of our correspondents on the telephone, also dismissed the claim that a huge amount of cash was moved out of the house before the police arrived at the building to conduct the search.
He said, “I wonder what they (police) want to gain from all these. In their report, they said no incriminating document or whatever was found there. You should understand that this is not the first time that premises were raided. Both EFCC and NDLEA found nothing.
“What is even the interest of the NDLEA in a matter that concerns money? They said they got information that there was a huge amount of money in the house. Are they saying that within the period of time they came, the money disappeared within an interval of 30 minutes?
“As a matter of fact, the siblings of the former first lady are no longer staying there. They have moved to Port Harcourt for more than a year now. So, there is nothing they (police) can allege that is found and that means they intended to do something else.
“There is no such information that there is a huge safe and that they saw bulletproof cars. That you find a car in a place and saw a huge safe are trivial issues because these are human beings that were living good ever before the husband became a public officer.
“Madam (Patience) did not give them the authority to go ahead with that search.”

Spain police speaks on Nigerians forced into prostitution
Voodoo rituals, near-drowning in the Mediterranean, abortions: Spanish police recounted Wednesday the harrowing experiences of young Nigerian migrant girls forced into prostitution in places like Benidorm and eventually rescued.
Authorities detained nine members of a trafficking group that used illegal migration routes to bring them from their home country to Spain. It was headed by three women of Nigerian origin, police said in a statement.
The victims, all poor, were approached “very young” with promises of a good job in Europe, although police did not specify their ages.
They were then submitted to voodoo rituals threatening terrible consequences to them and their families if they disobeyed the organisation, police said, before undertaking a gruelling trip to Europe via Niger and Libya.
Smugglers paid by the group then took them across the Mediterranean to Italy in rickety boats along with scores of other migrants.
“Two of the victims of this organisation had to be rescued by a rescue boat after the boat in which they were travelling sank in the Mediterranean, with various (other) immigrants drowning,” police said.
Once in Italy, members of the organisation took them out of migrant detention centres where they had been housed and they travelled to Spain by plane, using ID belonging to other women of Nigerian origin living legally in the country.
Once in Spain, they were instructed to ask for asylum so as to avoid potential deportation.
They were told they owed the organisation between 40,000 and 45,000 euros ($42,000 and $47,000), police said, and forced into prostitution in the northern town of Bilbao and the holiday resort of Benidorm in the east.
“They had to go and prostitute themselves every day and couldn’t come back until the early hours of the morning, after more than 14 hours… regardless of the inclement weather or their own health,” they added.
Such was the fear of their bosses that one of the victims who fell pregnant aborted straight away and continued to prostitute herself so that they would never know.
Police said the organisation had now been dismantled, and seven victims were rescued.
It was unclear whether there were other girls involved with the organisation.
The rescued girls are not alone, with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) estimating that of the thousands of Nigerian women arriving on Italian coasts, 80 percent are victims of trafficking.

PSG welcomes Draxler
German international Julian Draxler has joined Paris Saint Germain from Wolfsburg on a four-year deal, the French club said Tuesday.
The 23-year-old attacking midfielder has signed a contract for a reported 36 to 40 million euros ($37.5 million – $42 million) that will keep him at the top French club until the end of June 2021.
Draxler, part of Germany’s 2014 World Cup-winning side, said he was proud to join the current French champions, ending an acrimonious spell at his German club.
“I will be discovering a new country, a new championship and am very proud to embark on this new stage as part of a club that has become a reference in Europe and has recruited many very great players in recent years,” Draxler said in a club statement.
Draxler was unsettled at Wolfsburg and ruffled feathers last year when he announced publicly that he wanted to leave, prompting coach Valerien Ismael to say the player was causing ‘confusion’ in the team.
Draxler is PSG’s first purchase in the January transfer window as the club seeks to strengthen its squad after a disappointing start to the season and ahead of a their Champions League second round clash with Barcelona on February 14 and March 8.
Draxler made his Bundesliga debut at 17 for Schalke 04 and went on to become the youngest ever goalscorer for the national side, against Kazakhstan in June 2013, and the youngest player to captain Germany the following year against Poland in a World Cup warmup game, aged 20.
More recently his career has been dogged by controversy.
He has upset fans, teammates and officials at Wolfburg, with his drive to quit the club lying 13th in the Bundesliga while critics say his performance on the field has fallen short of his stellar reputation.
Last month former German international Lothar Matthaus chimed in with a warning to clubs interested in the precociously talent player that he had “never proved at the highest level that he was capable of making the difference”.

Where are the 3million jobs you promised Nigerians - NLC blasts Buhari
Abuja -The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has lambasted President Muhammadu Buhari and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for failure to fulfil campaign promises of creating three million jobs in the year 2016 alone.
NLC President, Ayuba Wabba, in Abuja said that the living condition of ordinary Nigerians has continued to depreciate since the emergence of the APC administration.
While reviewing the campaign manifesto of President Buhari, Wabba recalled that the APC government had promised to create a minimum of three million jobs yearly but had since dashed the hopes of the citizens who voted them into power during the 2015 general elections.
“How many jobs has the Federal Government and the 23 states controlled by the ruling party created in the last 20 or so months, in furtherance of its pledge to Nigerians during the electioneering campaign?,” Wabba asked.
“Since we submitted a written request for a new national minimum wage of N52 000 per month last year, the purchasing power of Nigerian workers had further depreciated that individuals on the existing minimum wage of N18, 000 were barely able to make ends meet in 30 days. At the beginning of 2016, with the Naira at N197 to $1, the minimum wage was equivalent of $91.3. At N495 to $1 this has in twelve month depreciated to $36.3.,” he said

John Mikel Obi certainly will leave Chelsea. But, to where?
Mikel, 29, has not featured for Chelsea this season and becomes a free agent in the summer.
Valencia sporting director Jesus Garcia Pitarch has held talks with Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel over a possible transfer to the Mestalla stadium, ESPN reports.
The Nigeria international is reportedly set to leave the Blues this month and Valencia have joined the race to acquire the experienced player, who has received offers from Inter Milan, Marseille and the Chinese Super League.
Garcia Pitarch said, as reported in Superdeporte: "In the case of Obi Mikel, with Chelsea's permission, I met with him in London on Christmas day.
"I informed him of the option [of joining Valencia]. He said he would think about it."
Valencia are looking to reinforce their squad this month in a bid to turn their fortunes around.
With just three wins in their 15 league games, Los Che are 17th in La Liga and level on 12 points with Sporting Gijon, who are in the relegation zone.
Obi Mikel's transfer has, however, been put on standby as the struggling side are looking for a new coach following Cesare Prandelli's decision to resign on Friday after less than three months in charge according to Evening Standard.
Obi Mikel has made over 240 appearances for Chelsea since joining the club in the summer of 2006 from Norwegian side Lyn.

A pair of scissors found in a man's stomach 18years after a surgical operation
A Vietnamese man has had scissors removed from his abdomen which were left behind during surgery 18 years ago, after reporting a stomachache that was nearly two decades in the making.
Ma Van Nhat, now 54, underwent surgery in 1998 after a car accident and only recently discovered that doctors had left an unwelcome gift behind when they closed him up.
Doctors discovered the 15-centimetre (six-inch) scissors near his colon after a recent ultrasound.
He had a three-hour operation at the weekend to remove the scissors, according to Ngo Trung Thang, deputy head of general affairs at Gang Thep Thai Nguyen hospital, 80 kilometres (50 miles) north of Hanoi.
“He is recovering well,” Thang disclosed Tuesday.
Nhat had spent nearly two decades “eating, drinking and having a pretty normal life”, according to Suc Khoe va Doi Song news site, the official mouthpiece of Vietnam’s health ministry.
